Webster City, Eagle Grove and Roland-Story cross country compete in Mike Carr Invitational

The Webster City Lynx, Eagle Grove Eagles and Roland-Story Norsemen cross country teams returned to action on Monday night, as they competed in the 43rd annual Mike Carr Invitational at the Huxley Country Club in Huxley. The Eagles and Lynx were joined by the host Ballard Bombers, as well as ADM, Atlantic, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, Carlisle, Des Moines Christian, Gilbert, Humboldt, Indianola, IF-A/AGWSR, Madrid, Nevada, Nodaway Valley, North Polk, Pella, Solon, Winterset and Woodward-Granger.

Webster City competed in Class A, as the girls finished 10th with 306 points. Izzy Grossoehme placed 52nd in a time of 23:42, while Rosemary Chamness placed 62nd in 27:15.3. Sydney Oswald was 63rd, Karina Murray was 64th and Lydia VanDeer was 65th. The Webster City boys also competed in Class A, placing 11th with 318 points. The Lynx top runner was sophomore Justin Callahan, who placed 46th in a time of 18:42.3, while senior Aiden Rahe placed 52nd in 19:05.4. Jack Barner placed 58th in 19:34.3, while Kyzer Zinnel placed 80th and Leland Eggers placed 82nd.

Roland-Story competed in Class B and placed 5th with 123 points. Claire Truesdell was the Norsemen’s top runner, placing 15th in 21:36.3, while Lauryn Kilstofte placed 24th in 22:20.8. Elizabeth Ihle placed 25th in 22:35.2, while Makenna Carlson placed 29th in 22:52.8. Brooke Thompson would place 30th, Kara Patterson was 41st and Olivia Younes placed 61st to round out the lineup. Roland-Story’s boys also competed in Class B, placing 8th with 204 points. Corbin Lucchesi was the Norsemen’s top runner, placing 22nd in 18:46.2, while Evan Voga placed 33rd in 19:31.9. Henry Dahlsten placed 46th, Lucas Wuebker was 48th, Colten Lucchesi placed 55th, Luccas Hart was 58th and Caleb Danielson was 59th.

Eagle Grove competed in Class B as well, as the girls were unable to compete as a complete team, as Elizabeth Lopez was the only Eagles runner that competed, placing 66th in 29:53.7. The Eagle Grove boys would place 7th in Class B with 203 points, Noah Thul was the top runner placing 26th in 19:03.1, while junior Zabdi Castro was not far behind in finishing 29th in 19:05.7. Felix Reyes placed 45th, Hunter Waldo-Martinez was 51st, Patrick Heaton was 52nd and Anthony Vazquez was 63rd.

Webster City cross country is back in action next Monday at the Mason City invitational, Eagle Grove is back in action next Monday at the Humboldt Invitational, while Roland-Story returns to action next Thursday for the 37th annual Norsemen XC Invite at Riverbend Golf Course in Story City.
