South Hamilton announces the two candidates for secondary principal to be interviewed.

JEWELL, IA — The South Hamilton Community School District School Board has named two
finalists in its search for the next secondary principal. The finalists are Andy McQuillen and Brian
Sauser.
McQuillen is the current middle school principal at Tipton CSD, where he has developed a
building-wide professional development plan and collaborated with staff in developing plans to
reform building schedules, policies, and procedures. He holds a master’s degree in educational
administration and is pursuing an education specialist degree in superintendency from Northwest
Missouri State University. Previously, McQuillen served as the grades 7-12 principal in the
Gladbrook-Reinbeck CSD.
Currently, Sauser serves as a special education teacher and Youth & Shelter Services (YSS) atrisk classroom teacher in the Ames CSD. In this role, Sauser has assisted students in completing
their education requirements and collaborated with colleagues and administration to design and
implement a new curriculum. He holds a master’s degree in educational administration from
Grand Canyon University. Sauser’s administrative experience includes a position as academic
dean of students at Iowa City West High School.
Board members have been working with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. As
a next step, the board and stakeholder interview teams will conduct final interviews with each of
the finalists on Thursday, February 16. The board will then discuss the candidates and reach a
final decision soon after the formal interviews.
The new principal will officially begin leading South Hamilton High School on July 1, 2023.
