The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team made the road trip up Interstate 35 to Franklin County to compete in the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Invitational at Hampton-Dumont-CAL High School in Hampton. The Norsemen were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as Ames, (2A) #13 Carroll Kuemper (4A) #14 Charles City, Grand View Christian, Independence, Iowa Falls-Alden, Janesville, St. Edmond, South Hardin and Webster City.
Roland-Story started their day against the hosts in Hampton-Dumont-CAL, making quick work of the Bulldogs with a 2-0 sweep by sets of 22-20 and 21-19. Kamryn Lande was the Norsemen’s top attacker with 9 kills, while Kenzie Fick had 6 kills. Ali Charlson finished with 19 assists.
The Norsemen then moved on to the Mustangs of Independence, where they fell 2-1 by sets of 21-8, 7-21 and 11-15 to their foes from the WaMaC. Kamryn Lande and Madelyn Risdal led the way 7 kills each, while Reagan Faber had 6 kills. Ali Charlson tallied 15 more assists from her setter spot.
Roland-Story then wrapped up their day with a 2-0 loss to Grand View Christian by sets of 21-11 and 21-12. Madelyn Risdal had 6 kills in the match, while Ali Charlson only managed 8 assists in the loss.
The Norsemen finished 1-2 on the day and moved to 16-11 on the season. Roland-Story returns to action on Thursday when they travel to State Center to take on West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
