Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling competes in Battle of Waterloo

The CGD Wrestling team made its way to the Cedarloo area on Friday and Saturday to compete in the annual Battle for Waterloo tournament. The Cowboys are coming off of a triangular sweep on Thursday of Webster City and Clear Lake.

The Cowboys began the tournament in Chart 4, where they competed against Lake Mills, Independence and Pleasant Valley. The Cowboys opened with Lake Mills, who they defeated 46-27. The Cowboys picked up 4 falls, as the Bulldogs had forfeits at 170, 220 and 285 to help seal the win for the Cowboys.  The Semifinal match had the Cowboys face off with an Independence team ranked 10th in the latest IAWrestle rankings. Independence picked up 53-22 win, with the only CGD wins from Ethan Traub, Caleb Seaba, Garrett Seaba, Mack Seaba and Daniel Chavez. CGD would defeat Pleasant Valley in the 3rd place match 42-32.

CGD returned to compete in Pool 3 on Saturday, matched up with Valley, Nashua-Plainfield and Cresco, Crestwood. The Cowboys finished pool play 0-3, falling to Valley 44-24 in the first round match. The Cowboys would then lose a barn-burner to Nashua-Plainfield 45-36, before falling in the 3rd place match to Cresco, Crestwood 48-30.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action after winter break, when they will face off with Algona in a dual in Clarion on January 6th.
