Fort Dodge-Iowa Central Community College welcomes Tom Beneke to its Board of Trustees, representing District 2, at the October 13 board meeting. Beneke, former vice president of student services at Iowa Central, will fill the seat formerly held by Brandon Wessels.
Beneke dedicated his career to serving students and expanding opportunities at the college. During his tenure as vice president of student services, he helped advance student retention and completion initiatives, strengthen student support services, and enhance the campus experience through athletics, activities and student engagement.
Beneke’s longstanding connection to Iowa Central and his understanding of the college’s mission bring valuable institutional experience to the Board of Trustees. His work throughout his career centered on helping students succeed and ensuring they had the support and opportunities needed to reach their goals.
“It is an honor to continue serving Iowa Central in this new capacity,” Beneke said. “Having spent much of my career working alongside dedicated faculty and staff to support our students, I’ve seen the impact this college has on individuals and our communities. I’m proud of what Iowa Central has accomplished and excited about its future. I look forward to working with the board and college leadership to continue building on that progress.”
During Wessels’ time on the board, he helped guide Iowa Central through decisions affecting the college, its students and the communities it serves.
“We are grateful to Brandon for his service to Iowa Central and District 2,” said Iowa Central President Dr. Jesse Ulrich. “We also look forward to welcoming Tom to the board. His years of experience at Iowa Central and his commitment to student success give him a strong understanding of the opportunities and responsibilities that come with serving our college and our communities.”
As Beneke joins the Board of Trustees, Iowa Central looks forward to continuing its work with District 2 and the broader Area V community to provide accessible educational opportunities and meet the region’s changing needs.
