South Hamilton, Roland-Story and Eagle Grove cross country compete in Jim Klein Invitational in Jewell

JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks, Roland-Story Norsemen and Eagle Grove Eagles cross country teams returned to the course on Thursday evening, as they ran at the annual Jim Klein Invitational at Jewell Golf and Country Club. The Hawks, Norsemen and Eagles were joined by AC/GC, BCLUW, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, East Marshall, Greene County, Lynnville-Sully, Madrid, Meskwaki, North Polk, Ogden, Panorama and West Marshall.

Roland-Story’s girls would place 6th with 165 points in a loaded field, as senior Kara Patterson would place 17th in a time of 20:53.44, while junior Sophie Bates was 25th in 21:32.40. Hadley Carlson was 46th in 23:27.43, Callie Jedlicka was 54th in 24:00.06 as Logan Lande rounded out scoring in 55th with a time of 24:14.28.

South Hamilton did not compete as a complete team, as Jill Bentley was the top placer by finishing 51st with a time of 23:42.00, while Cici Herrick was 56th in 24:20.05. Rosemary Chamness was 73rd in 27:43.24, as Laurel Johnson was 77th in 29:22.89.

Eagle Grove also did not compete as a complete team, as freshman London Parrott placed 20th in a time of 21:02.53, as Myka Anderson placed 49th in 23:29.47. Ingrid Pull rounded out the lineup in 79th with a time of 30:56.63.

South Hamilton’s boys came away with a 2nd-place finish as a team with 98 points, as senior Jesus Garcia placed 5th in a time of 16:57.42, as senior Hayden Hill was 9th in 17:29.77. Jackson Olmstead was 20th in a time of 18:18.32, Jacob Lutjen was 25th in 18:29.57, as John Sandgren was 60th in a time of 20:22.70.

Roland-Story would place 8th with a total of 171 points, as senior Corbin Lucchesi would finish 3rd in a time of 16:52.24, while Caden Lucchesi was 16th in a time of 18:06.67. Jerry Severson was 56th in 20:08.66, Josiah Stotts was 64th in 20:31.22, while Josiah Potratz was 66th in 20:32.01.

Eagle Grove would place 11th with a total of 293 points, as the Eagles top placer was junior Asarel Castro, who placed 30th in a time of 18:42.84, as senior Anthony Vasquez was 73rd in 21:06.15. Edward Orozco-Onate was 79th in 22:04.62, Noe Estrada-Kreitlow was 81st in 23:10.97 as Cayden Hauenstein was 88th in 25:17.15.

South Hamilton and Roland-Story cross country return to the course on Monday, as they run at the Heart of Iowa Conference Meet in Perry, beginning at 5 PM. Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Tuesday, when they run at the North Central Conference Meet at Maynes Grove in Iowa Falls, beginning at 3:45 PM.
