Know The Foe Week 6: Webster City at (3A) #3 Sioux Center

SIOUX CENTER, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx football team returns to the field on Friday Night, as they make the long trip to Northwest Iowa to take on the Sioux Center Warriors at the Open Space Athletic Complex in Class 3A, District 1 action. The Lynx enter with a mark of 1-4, while Sioux Center enters at 5-0 and ranked #3 in Class 3A. Friday’s meeting is the 2nd all-time meeting between the two squads, with the Warriors winning the 2025 matchup 42-28 in Webster City.

Sioux Center enters at 5-0, coming off a thrilling, last-second victory in their district opener over Bishop Heelan by score of 32-30.T he Warriors went undefeated in non-district play with wins over Unity Christian, Sheldon, LeMars and Spencer. After a district championship in 2025, the Warriors are led offensively by senior quarterback Ezra Hibma, who’s thrown for over 800 yards and 7 touchdowns, as well as rushing for nearly 700 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hibma’s favorite target is junior wideout Parker Smit, who’s caught 19 passes for 446 yards and 5 touchdowns, while receiver Bradeon Perez-Hietbrink has 11 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown. Tate Swager leads the Warriors running back room with 409 yards and 4 touchdowns on 70 carries, sharing reps in the rushing game with the quarterback Hibma. The Warriors do have size up front, with players such as Colton Mouw and sophomore Kwin Schmidt.

Defensively, the front seven of the unit have been the strength for Sioux Center this year. The Warriors linebackers lead the way as senior Ethan Bosma leads the team with 29.5 tackles and 5 TFL while fellow senior Elisha Los has 22 tackles and 2.5 TFL. Sioux Center’s defensive backfield has recorded 2 picks, one each from juniors Parker Smith and McArthur Schuiteman, as Hunter Smith lead the DB’s with 15.5 tackles. The defensive line has been a more unit wide effort as opposed to standout individuals, as sophomore Kwin Schmidt leads the group with 14 tackles, 4 TFL and 2 sacks.

Webster City looks to build further momentum off their district-opening win over Humboldt in Week 5 by a score of 21-7. The Lynx defense will face a great challenge with an explosive Sioux Center offense, but the Webster City defense has been challenged and has improved greatly over the last 2 weeks. The Webster City offense will be tasked with staying efficient and consistent once more, attempting to limit the Warriors number of possessions.
