JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks football team returned to action on Friday Night, as they hosted the East Sac County Raiders in Class 1A, District 2 action for homecoming night at Bill Taylor Field. South Hamilton entered with a mark of 1-3, while East Sac County entered at 4-0 and ranked #10 in Class 1A.
East Sac took the football first and would score on an 18-yard touchdown from Carson Schmitt to go ahead 7-0. South Hamilton would punt on their opening possession, as the Raiders would then score on a 27-yard touchdown run by fullback Dawson Allen to put the Raiders ahead 14-0. The Hawks would answer on their following drive as a long Kash Northrop run set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Garrett Johnson to cut the score to 14-6. The 2nd quarter saw East Sac take control with a 37-yard touchdown by Carson Schmitt as the Raiders took a 21-6 lead. The Raiders then added onto that lead with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Westin Julin to Zach Jacobsen, followed by a Beckem Kluver 26-yard field goal as East Sac led 29-6 at halftime.
The third quarter would be scoreless, before East Sac County erased any doubt in the 4th quarter with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Weston Julin to Zach Jacobsen as the Raiders would secure a 37-6 victory.
Sophomore Kash Northrop would lead the Hawks in rushing with 79 yards on 10 carries, as South Hamilton was down starting backs Wyatt Gelder and Kaden Dean. Garrett Johnson rushed 10 times for 66 yards, as freshman Reggie Williams carried 17 times for 70 yards.
South Hamilton football returns to action on Friday Night, as they host the Pocahontas Area Indians in Class 1A, District 3 action at Bill Taylor Field, with kickoff at 7 PM.
