Fort Dodge- Police in Fort Dodge are investigating an altercation that happened shortly before 12:30 this (Saturday) morning in front of the Fourth Street Depot at 300 South Fourth Street. As an Officer arrived on the scene, he encountered an offender actively firing rounds from a handgun as well as multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The officer fired his weapon at the offender, who then fled into the Fourth Street Depot. The officer then pursued the gunman. He was quickly located and taken into custody by responding Webster County Sheriff’s Deputies in the 400 block of Third Avenue South. The officers on the scene provided medical treatment to the victims until the Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived and transported them to Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center. Officers then arrested 20-year-old Jamarcus L. Gully of Fort Dodge. Gully has been charged with Murder in the First Degree (Class A Felony), Attempt to Commit Murder of as Peace Officer and two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder (all Class B Felonies). The unnamed officer involved in the incident was not injured and has been placed on Critical Incident Leave in accordance with Fort Dodge Police Department policy. The names of those involved is not being released at this time pending family notification. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Fort Dodge Police, Fort Dodge Fire Department, Webster County Sheriff’s and Attorney’s offices and the Iowa State Patrol.
