CLEAR LAKE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx, Eagle Grove Eagles, and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys cross country teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as they ran at the Clear Lake Invitational at Veterans Memorial Golf Course. The Lynx, Eagles and Cowboys were joined by the host Lions, as well as Ames, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, Central Springs, Clarksville, Clear Lake Classical, Denver, Forest City, Fort Dodge, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Gilbert, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Newman Catholic, Northwood-Kensett, Saint Ansgar, Waverly-Shell Rock, West Fork and West Hancock.
Webster City’s girls would place 12th with a total of 250 points, as senior Izzy Grossoehme led the Lynx in 16th with a time of 21:10.8, as Lyla Brookshire was 34th in 22:22.4. McKenna Buakham was 69th in 24:31.2, Rubi Andrade-Murillo was 72nd in 24:55.4, as Marlene Saavendra Mendoza was 77th in 25:12.9.
Eagle Grove’s girls would not place as a team, but freshman London Parrott was 22nd in a time of 21:42.3, as junior Myka Anderson was 61st in 24:05.2, while Ingrid Pull was 97th in 27:01.7.
CGD’s girls would also not place as a team, as freshman Addyson Greenfield was 49th in 26:10.1, while Sophia Dahlgren was 76th in 30:00.1.
Webster City’s boys would place 7th with a total of 231 points, as junior Daniel Murillo-Delfin would place 27th in a time of 18:17.9, as sophomore Aiden Wardell was 42nd in a time of 18:48.7. Max Barrick was 48th in 19:01.8, Kaleb Draeger was 58th in 19:20.9, as Jordan Betts was 62nd in a time of 19:30.2.
Eagle Grove boys placed 14th with a total of 378 points, as freshman Stetson Kvale was 59th in a time of 19:25.3, while junior Adam Dak was 63rd in 19:31.5. Asarel Castro was 84th in 20:18.6, Anthony Vasquez was 93rd in 21:07.4, as Tucker Taylor was 94th in 21:07.8.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys did not place as a team, as sophomore Carson Gump placed 35th with a time of 18:30.2, while senior Logan Torsell was 49th in 19:02.0. Max Engstler was 73rd in 20:03.9, while Eduardo Rivera placed 92nd in a time of 21:05.9.
Eagle Grove and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows cross country return to action on Monday, when they run at the Humboldt Invitational at Joe Sheldon Park, beginning at 5 PM. Webster City cross country returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to the Mason City Invitational at Mason City High School, beginning at 6:15 PM.
