Jewell receives a $675,000 CAT grant for its Outdoor Swimming Pool project through the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Jewell-Big news for the city of Jewell from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The City of Jewell today (Friday) was awarded $675,000 CAT (Community Action and Tourism) Grant to construct a 3,370-square-foot pool featuring a zero-depth entry, water features, three 20-yard swimming lanes and a 1-meter diving tower. The facility, which will use the existing bathhouse, will provide a new recreational destination for area residents and families. The total project cost is $2.59 million. This would replace the pool originally built in 1964. There were numerous fund raisers held in the Jewell area for the pool facility. The Jewell City Council and the SHAPE ( South Hamilton Area Pool and Exercise) will release more information on the future plans for the pool project and the news announced Friday  afternoon soon.
