JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks football team returns to action on Friday Night, as they make their home opener by hosting the Panorama Panthers in non-district action at Bill Taylor Field. South Hamilton enters at 0-1, as Panorama also enters at 0-2. Panorama leads the all-time series between the two programs 2-1, with the Panthers winning the 2025 matchup by a score of 28-22.
Panorama enters Friday night looking to rebound off a 53-7 thrashing at the hands of county rival AC/GC in Week 1, as the Panthers lost Southwest Valley in Week 0 by a score of 35-18. The Panthers are led by senior quarterback Cruz Crandall, who’s thrown for 206 yards, 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on the season. Crandall’s favorite target has been senior Reed Draper, who’s caught 7 balls for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns, with seniors Brayden Prescott and Sam Scanlan other threats in the passing game. The Panorama rushing attack is a work-in-progress, recording only total of 37 rushing yards in their first 2 games, as the Panthers offensive line is also a work-in-progress.
The Panthers defense has been led by their linebacking core, as senior Reed Draper leads the unit with 17.5 tackles, along with a scoop and score, while Brody Steenblock has added 10 tackles as well. Cruz Crandall leads a young defensive backfield with 13.5 tackles, as junior Corbin Deardoff has Panorama’s lone interception on the season. Senior Cole Carstens leads the Panthers defensive line with 13.5 tackles, joined by the likes of junior Hunter Kline and junior Cruz Stanley up front.
South Hamilton will look to rebound off their 55-7 thrashing at the hands of (A) #5 Saint Ansgar in week 1, as the Hawks will look to get their wishbone attack working early and often against the Panthers. Tight end and Defensive end Ben Swenson should be back after missing the opener due to injury, as the Hawks challenge will be slowing down the Panthers passing attack on defense.
Kickoff is slated for 7 PM from Bill Taylor Field on Friday Night.
