WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx, South Hamilton Hawks, Roland-Story Norsemen, Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Cowgirls cross country teams returned to the course on Tuesday evening, as Webster City hosted their annual cross country meet at Links Public Golf Course.
Webster City’s girls competed in the Purple Division, placing 6th with a total of 125 points, as senior Izzy Grossoehme placed 14th in a time of 22:40.10, as 8th-Grader Lyla Brookshire was 18th in 23:43.22. Ruby Andrade-Murillo was 26th, Quynn Pruismann placed 38th and Marlene Saavendra-Mendoza placed 40th to round out scoring.
In the Gold Division, Roland-Story placed 3rd with a total of 73 points, as senior Kara Patterson placed 4th in a time of 21:15.23, as junior Sophie Bates placed 10th in a time of 23:01.83. Hadley Carlson placed 17th, junior Callie Jedlicka placed 19th as junior Logan Lande rounded out scoring in 26th.
Eagle Grove would run just 2 runners on Tuesday, as London Parrott placed 23rd in 25:03.07, while Ingrid Pull would place 43rd. South Hamilton ran just 4 runners, as junior Jill Bentley led the Hawks by placing 21st in 24:50.03, as senior Cici Herrick placed 32nd in a time of 26:57.69. Senior Laurel Johnson placed 51st and Rosemary Chamness placed 53rd to round out the Hawks lineup. CGD would have just 2 runners, as Addyson Greenfield placed 43rd in 29:27.36, as Sofia Dahlgren placed 54th.
In the boy’s race, Webster City placed 6th in the Purple Division with a total of 148 points. Junior Daniel Murillo-Delfin was 15th in a PR-time of 18:22.11, as sophomore Aiden Wardell was 25th in 18:59.60. Eighth-Grader Max Barrick placed 34th, junior Kaleb Draeger was 35th, as junior Jordan Betts rounded out scoring in 39th.
Roland-Story would emerge as the team champions in the Gold Division, finishing with 77 points as senior Corben Lucchesi was the individual champion in a time of 17:08.56, as younger brother Caden Lucchesi was 8th in a time of 18:53.94. Freshman Jerry Severson was 18th, sophomore Josiah Stotts was 22nd, as sophomore Josiah Potratz rounded out scoring in 31st.
South Hamilton placed 4th with a total of 89 points, as senior Jesus Garcia was the individual runner-up in a time of 17:09.71, as senior Hayden Hill was 7th in 18:39.69. Senior Jackson Olmstead was 9th in 18:55.70, junior Jacob Lutjen placed, while senior John Sandgren finished 44th to round out scoring.
Eagle Grove placed 7th with a total of 149 points, as senior Hunter Waldo Martinez scored a top 10 finish by placing 6th in a time of 18:34.11, while freshman Stetson Kvale was 26th in a time of 20:28.45. Junior Asarel Castro was 32nd, freshman Tucker Taylor placed 45th, while senior Anthony Vasquez rounded out scoring in 46th.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 8th with a total of 152 points, as senior Logan Torsell placed 14th in a time of 19:35.05, while sophomore Carson Gump was 16th in a time of 19:43.80. Freshman Max Engstler placed 28th, junior Eduardo Rivera was 42nd, while junior Roy Hoang rounded out scoring in 57th.
Webster City cross country returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Waverly for the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic at the Max Championship Cross County Course beginning at 6 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Tuesday, when they compete at the Belmond-Klemme Invitational at Belmond Country Club, beginning at 5:30 PM. South Hamilton cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they run at the Gilbert Cross Country Meet at the Iowa State cross country course in Ames beginning at 5:30 PM. Roland-Story cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they run at the Greene County Invitational at Spring Lake Park in Jefferson, beginning at 4:30 PM.
