JEWELL, Ia. — 2025 was a successful bounce-back year for South Hamilton volleyball, as the Hawks posted their first winning record since a 24-8 campaign in 2018 by finishing 19-14. A strong senior group is gone, but the Hawks bring back plenty of talent to reload and try and finish in the top half of the HOIAC.
Front Row
The Hawks possess one of the top hitters in the Heart of Iowa in senior Tessa Skartvedt, who finished with 294 kills, 23 blocks and an attack efficiency of .254 in 2025. The Hawks will be in search of size to help Skartvedt out in the front-line, which could come from junior Stella Martensen, as well as junior Alexis Crosby. Riah Van De Pol returns as a dependable option as a front-row attacker for the Hawks after 65 kills in 2025.

The back line is likely where the strength of the South Hamilton squad lies, as junior Emma Lammers returns after an all-conference season in 2025 with 335 digs. Riah Van De Pol provides a solid back-row option after 49 digs in 2025, as senior Aliya Erickson will slide into a full-time setter role after 187 assists a season ago. Younger names to watch in the back line include junior Allie Neuberger and sophomore Emma Ammerman.
