Stratford-A lengthy discussion was held Monday evening at the Stratford City Council meeting on drainage issues in the community. The discussion was to attack the sub-station water issues, the corner of Ross Avenue and Walnut Street and the Fire Station pond. A sub-committee on drainage matters in Stratford met with Midland Power to address the issues at the sub-station back on August 3rd. It was agreed that the new sub-station is sitting on a drain tile and that the tile needs to be rerouted. Midland Power officials agreed to pot-hole dig on both ends so that the engineer can find the fall and see if the drain tile can be rerouted to the north of the fence of the sub-station. Ross Avenue and Walnut will need to be televised. It is believed that the Fire Station pond is a broken tile and will be working with a contractor to get the issue fixed in Stratford.
The Stratford City Council voted to approve the Ubben Tiling invoice for $2,620 for drainage issues using LOSST funds designated for infrastructure.
The council had a short discussion on the nuisance abatement process for Stratford. After talking about how it works and what has been addressed, the council decided to leave it as is.
In other matters, the Stratford City Council adopted the Hamilton County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for Stratford. The council tabled the request from the Stratford Community Development Corporation to update the council until a later date. A donation request from the Stratford Community Development Corporation for $3,000 was denied by council members. A request from the Stratford Fire and Request for an additional driveway at 630 Highway 175 was tabled until the Iowa DOT approves driveway state requirements. The quote from Midwest Pump Works for $3,335 for the main lift station valve using LOSST funds designated for infrastructure was approved. The council approved a quote from Jetco for $4,016 for a transducer for the town water plant. The invoice from Kahl Construction for $1,515.38 was accepted for the repairs of leaks at the Stratford Municipal Pool this summer. Another invoice was accepted from Hall Backhoe and Tiling for $2,748. 07 using LOSST funds designated for the Stratford swimming pool.
