Webster City-The Iowa Workforce Development office reported Tuesday that Hamilton County saw a slight increase in the unemployment numbers for the month of May. The rate was at 2.4 percent. This is up from the April rate of 2.2 percent. There were 7,650 people employed across Hamilton County for May while 190 people were without work last month. The unemployment rates for surrounding counties last month included Boone and Hardin Counties both at 2.5 percent, Franklin County at 2.9 percent, Story County at 2.6 percent, Webster County at 3.1 percent and Wright County at 2.3 for May. Iowa’s unemployment rate was at 3.2 percent for last month. There were over 1.6 million Iowans employed with 56,100 being unemployed.
