Eagle Grove softball shuts out Nevada in 6 innings, 8-0

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Thursday evening, as they hosted the Nevada Cubs in non-conference action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. The Eagles entered at 0-1, while the Cubs entered at 1-0.

Eagle Grove would set the tone immediately with a 4-run bottom of the first, including a Lily Locke bases-clearing double to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead. Eagle Grove continued to build on the lead with 2 runs in the 3rd, before scoring 2 more runs in the 6th to walk things off early with an 8-0, 6-inning victory.

Lily Locke would go 1-for-2 with a double and 3 RBI, as Holly Anderson went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Mya Morgan pitched the complete game, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits and striking out 8 batters.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to county-rivals Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, to take on the Cowgirls at CGD High School, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
