STATE CENTER, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norse girls golf team returned to action on Wednesday morning, as they competed in their Class 2A, Region 3 Tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center. The Norse were joined by Clarinda, Grundy Center, PCM, Shenandoah, Treynor, Van Meter and West Marshall.
For the 5th year in a row, Roland-Story qualified for the Class 2A State Tournament, winning the regional qualifier with a team score of 346 (+58), 9 strokes ahead of 2nd-place Grundy Center. Brinley Carlson was the top placer, finishing 4th with a score of 81 (+9), as younger sister Hadley Carlson placed 6th and shot an 83 (+11). Sophomore Morgan Thompson was 10th with a 91 (+19), as Jenna Birkland rounded out scoring in 11th by also shooting a 91 (+19).
Roland-Story advances to the Class 2A State Meet, which will take place at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown on May 28th and May 29th.
