SHENANDOAH, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen boys golf teams returned to action on Monday morning, as they competed in their Class 2A District Meet at the Shenandoah Community Golf Course. The Hawks and Norsemen would be joined by the host Mustangs, as well as Clarinda, Grand View Christian, MMCRU, Riverside, South Central Calhoun and Van Meter. Representatives from Interstate 35, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, Red Oak, Treynor and Woodward-Granger also competed.
South Hamilton would place 4th with a team score of 312 (+24), missing out on a state tournament berth by one stroke as Shenandoah placed 3rd with a 311 (+23). Luke Martensen would place 7th by shooting a 74 (+2), as Garrett Johnson placed 17th and shot a 79 (+7). Brody Harris placed 19th and also shot a 79 (+7), as Sam Koehnk rounded out scoring by placing 30th and shooting an 80 (+8). Other scorers for the Hawks saw Michael Carlson shoot an 81 (+9) and Maddux Becker shoot a 105 (+33).
Roland-Story placed 6th with a team score of 315 (+27), as their top placer was junior Wyatt Ramus, who placed 10th and shot a 76 (+4), as senior Hayden Eslick placed 11th and shot a 77 (+5). Junior Jake Knoll placed 18th and shot a 79 (+7), as Ryan Fisher rounded out scoring by placing 37th and shooting an 83 (+11). Other scorers for the Norsemen saw Tucker Hawkins shoot an 84 (+12) and Evan Byersdorfer shoot an 87 (+15).
Clarinda, MMCRU and Shenandoah all qualified for next week’s Class 2A State Golf Tournament at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo, which begins on May 26th.
