Stratford-Officials with the Stratford Fire and Rescue Department is announcing the start of construction of a new three-door apparatus bay addition to the department’s fire station. The project will enhance the operational readiness, improve safety and ensure the department can effectively serve the growing needs of the Stratford community. The addition will replace an existing apparatus storage area that no longer meets the size requirements of modern fire and emergency response vehicles. Over time, the emergency apparatus has increased in size due to enhanced safety standards, expanded equipment capabilities and evolving service demands. The current space is insufficient to safety accommodate today’s trucks and equipment. The new three-bay addition will provide adequate clearance for modern farm apparatus, improved safety for firefighters entering and exiting vehicles, proper storage and protection of emergency equipment, and increased efficiency in response times. Construction is expected to begin this April with minimal disruption to emergency vehicles. The Stratford Fire and Rescue will remain fully operational throughout the project.
