South Hamilton boys basketball comes up short in district opener at PCM, 57-50

MONROE, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks boys basketball team returned to action on Monday night, as they opened their Class 2A, District 5 bracket by traveling to Monroe to take on the PCM Mustangs at PCM High School.

PCM would jump out to a quick start on Monday, leading the Hawks 16-8 after the first quarter. However, the Hawks would rally in the 2nd quarter to make the halftime score 30-27, before keeping the margin to 3 after the third quarter at 43-40. The Hawks managed to have the game tied at 50-50 late in the 4th quarter, but PCM was able to make one final surge for a 57-50 win.

Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.

PCM basketball advances to face the Van Meter Bulldogs in the Class 2A, District 5 semifinal on Thursday at 7 PM. South Hamilton’s season ends with a record of 3-19.
