CLARION, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they faced one another in Class 2A, District 2 action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School.
It would be CGD that would pull ahead early, leading 17-9 after the first quarter, extending that lead by halftime, although with Eagle Grove still hanging around at 31-18. The Cowboys began to pull away in the 2nd half before settling for a 64-44 victory.
Junior Chaz Lane would lead the Cowboys with 26 points on the night, as Johnny Lomeli added 9 points with a pair of three-pointers. Gavin Pedersen led Eagle Grove with 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Adrian Whipple added 9 points.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows advances to face Sioux Central in their Class 2A, District 2 semifinal at Sioux Central High School, with tipoff at 7 PM on Thursday night. Eagle Grove’s season concludes with a record of 6-17.
