OGDEN, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the short trip into Boone County to compete in their Class 1A, District 7 wrestling tournament at Ogden High School. The Hawks were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as AGSWR, Janesville, Manson-Northwest Webster, Martensdale-St. Marys, North Tama, Panorama, West Central Valley and West Hancock.
Two South Hamilton athletes would qualify for the state tournament on Saturday, the first being senior Parker Stuck, placing 2nd at 190 pounds by winning his 2nd-place match by fall over West Hancock’s Michael Greitllat in 5:21. This was followed by senior Brody Harris placing 2nd at 285 pounds, winning his 2nd-place match by fall over West Hancock’s Gaige Tindall in 1:45. South Hamilton’s 2 qualifiers are the most the Hawks have sent to the state tournament since sending 4 qualifiers back at the 2021 state meet.
Gaige Willis was the lone other placer for the Hawks, finishing 4th at 215 pounds. South Hamilton placed 9th in the meet with 50 points, as West Hancock claimed the district title, winning with 156 points.
