South Hamilton girls basketball wins playoff opener with Columbus Catholic, 58-18

JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks girls basketball team returned to action on Saturday night, as they hosted the Columbus Catholic Sailors of the North Iowa Cedar League for their Class 2A, Region 1 first round game at South Hamilton High School in Jewell.

South Hamilton would take advantage of the 1-win Sailors early on, leading 15-7 after the first quarter, extending that lead by halftime with a score of 27-10. The Hawk offense sprung to life in the 3rd quarter with 20 points to take a 47-18 lead, as the Hawks cruised in the 4th to a 58-18 win.

South Hamilton girls basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they travel to Sioux Rapids to take on the Sioux Central Rebels in their Class 2A, Region 1 quarterfinal, with tipoff at 7 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
