Roland-Story wrestling qualifies 2 to State Tournament in Class 2A, District 1 meet at Ballard

HUXLEY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the trip to southern Story County to compete in their Class 2A, District 1 wrestling tournament at Ballard High School in Huxley. The Norsemen were joined by the host Bombers, as well as Alburnett, Mount Vernon, North Polk, Perry, Van Meter and Woodward-Granger.

Two athletes from Roland-Story would qualify into the State Tournament, battling in a loaded district meet from top to bottom. Caiden Latch was the first qualifier, winning his 138-pound bracket with a 12-9 decision in the semifinals over Alburnett’s Clayton Strang, before winning a 19-2 tech fall in the 3rd period over Perry’s Townes Wilson. Chance Georgius would then qualify at 190 pounds, winning his 2nd-place match by no contest, having defeated Ballard’s Greyson Ehersman by a 12-2 major decision in the quarterfinals earlier on Saturday.

Other placers for the Norsemen saw Brady Long place 3rd at 132, Greysun Lein place 3rd at 150, as Roman Stotts placed 4th in a loaded 215-pound weight class. Roland-Story placed 4th in the tournament with 97.5 points, as Alburnett was the district champion with 211 points.
