Roland-Story boys basketball holds off Martensdale-St. Marys in regular season-finale, 51-44

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen boys basketball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Martensdale-St. Marys Blue Devils in non-conference action at Roland-Story High School.

Martensdale would jump out to an early lead, up 9-2 midway through the 1st quarter, but Roland-Story rallied to tie the game at 10-10 after one. The Norsemen then took control in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-16 halftime lead. Martensdale would put together a big rally in the 3rd quarter to bring the score to 31-30 headed into the 4th, but Roland-Story would pull away late for a 51-44 victory.

The KQWC Player of the Game was junior Luke Thoreson, who finished with a game-high 27 points with 7 rebounds, as Blake Larson added 9 points and 3 assists. Colton Wight led Martensdale-St. Marys with 19 points.

Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Thursday night, as they host the winner of Osage and Iowa Falls-Alden in Class 2A, District 3 semifinal action with tipoff at 7 PM.
