Stratford City Council faces a wide range of issues at this week’s meeting.

A lengthy discussion of the Stratford City Council regarding sub-contracting mowing and trimming and or weed eating for 2026. The council made a suggestion to bid it out to see what bids come in for the necessary work. Council members requested maps of locations be available to bidders at City Hall. The council voted to approve bidding out the sub-contracting of mowing and trimming for the 2026 mowing season. All bids will be reviewed at the next council in March. Stratford council members set March 9th for a public hearing for the Capital Improvement Plan for the 2027 Fiscal Year.

Plans for advertising the hiring of staff for the Stratford Municipal Swimming Pool and the policy manual for 2026 was approved by the council. The council tabled action for the City of Stratford Water and Electric businesses to pay $100 each in dues to be members of the Stratford Community Development Corporation.

There was a lengthy discussion on sanitary sewer concerns in the areas of the 600 block of Milton Street, the corner of Washington Avenue and Pollock Street, the alley east of Teneyck Avenue and south of Dryden Street and the corner of Walnut Street and Ross Avenue. The Stratford City Council approved dye testing of the sanitary sewers in the areas of concern. The council addressed the future of the Community Garden Project for this year. The council voted to allow Legacy Power moving forward with quoting electrical infrastructure work for Stratford. A resolution establishing a policy for snow removal at Oakwood Cemetery was approved during last Monday’s meeting.
