The Iowa State Patrol released details today (Wednesday) of an accident Tuesday morning near Williams at the 144-mile marker of Interstate 35. Reportedly a northbound 2021 model Honda CR-V Sport Utility Vehicle driven by Michael Smith of Ames struck a coyote on the highway. Damage was done to the front bumper and fender of the Smith SUV along with the left front wheel and radiator. The coyote died of injuries in the Tuesday morning accident. Iowa State Patrol Lieutenant Chris Moline estimated the damage to the Smith vehicle at $3000. The driver escaped injury.
