On Monday evening, the Ellsworth City Council appointed Brian Zimmerman as the Ellsworth representative to serve on the Hamilton County Solid Waste Commission for 2026. Council members appointed Marcy Olson and Mayor Barry Anksorus to serve on the Ellsworth Police Board. Marcy Olson and Ladana Sogard will serve on the Parks and Recreation Board. The Water Utility Committee will be made up of Ladana Sogard and Brian Phipps. William Funk and Curtis Jensen will serve on the Electric Utility Committee. William Funk, Brian Phipps and Mayor Barry Anksorus will serve on the Ellsworth Personnel Committee. Brian Phipps and Curtis Jensen will serve on the Streets/Sidewalks Committee.
The Ellsworth City Council was updated by its public works supervisor Nick Vanlangen on the progress with RO filters in the town’s water plant concerning warranty issues and replacement. Quotes for cleaning the inside of the existing water tower and mentioned several quotes he was looking into for public improvement projects including the potential asphalt pad installation for additional parking at the park shelter house.
The Ellsworth City Council reviewed the Fiscal Year budget for the Ellsworth Public Library in 2027 with expenses totaling of $45,850. Ellsworth Fire Chief presented the proposed 2027 Fiscal Year Budget for the fire and EMS departments. The fire department had an increase of 8 percent compared to expenditure in Fiscal Year 2026 and the EMS department an increase of 5 percent over Fiscal Year 2026.
Insurance for a BYOB Trivia Night at the Ellsworth Community Center saw a setback due to the ECA group unable to pursue Dram shop coverage or licensing for alcohol to be present at the event. A benefit dinner for a family in need at the Ellsworth Community Center for March 6th was approved by the council. Plans for a Mother’s Day brunch at the Ellsworth Community Center was approved for May 9th from 9 until 12 noon. The usage of the Ellsworth park shelter for events on June 26th and 28th for the Ellsworth Extravaganza was approved by the Ellsworth City Council last Monday evening.
