Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball drops NCC finale to Hampton-Dumont-CAL

HAMPTON, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Cowgirls basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip east on Highway 3 to take on the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Hampton-Dumont-CAL High School.

HD-CAL would jump on top of CGD early in the girls game, leading 39-9 at halftime before coasting to a 55-11 victory. Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.

The boys game followed as Hampton led 17-15 after the first quarter, but a dominant 2nd quarter from the Bulldogs put the Cowboys down 35-22 at the halftime break. CGD would battle back in the 3rd quarter to make the score 49-40, but the Cowboys could not make up the deficit in a 71-61 loss.

Chaz Lane led the Cowboys with 25 points, as he surpassed the 1,000-point mark in his varsity career, while JD Morrical added 14 points. Brady Harr led Hampton-Dumont-CAL with 29 points.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys basketball returns to action on Thursday night, as they travel to Gowrie to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action with tipoff at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls basketball returns to action Saturday night, as they travel to Manson-Northwest Webster to take on the Cougars in their Class 2A, Region 7 first round game at 7 PM.
