The date of August 24,2026 will be the starting date for classes for grades K through 12th in the Webster City Community School District. Last (Monday) night, the board accepted the school calendar for the 2026-27 academic year. The pre-school academic year starts up on Monday, August 31st. Webster City superintendent Matt Berninghaus outlined the school calendar highlights including three days off for the Thanksgiving Break in late November. The Christmas Break will run from December 22nd with a two-hour dismissal. Classes would resume on January 4th,2027. The Spring Break period would run from March 12th through March 19th,2027. The last day of classes for next school year would be May 28th,2027. Graduation Day for the Class of 2027 would be Sunday, May 23rd,2027. The board approved the plans for the school calendar Monday night.
Webster City school administrators addressed the board on the policy when it comes to discipline. The principals spoke to the board on how they handle the student if they misbehave in the classroom, the playground, hallways, lunchroom and on the bus to and from school. So far in the current school year, the principals felt the students have cooperated in the discipline policy in each of the elementary centers, the middle school and at the high school.
The Webster City School Board Monday night gave their support of establishing a High School Trap Shooting Team as an official FFA activity. The students who will be involved would hold classes a the Boone Valley Izaak Walton League Park southwest of Webster City. Board members also gave their support of a Shared Community Director position with the City of Webster City providing information on school meetings and activities.
In other matters, the Webster City School Board accepted a donation of $2000 from Bob and Debbie Wirtz for the Webster City School athletic programs. Fundraising requests for the Webster City Baseball, Girls Track and High School Prom were all approved by the board.
