CLARION, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Cowgirls basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as the two teams met one another in North Central Conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School.
Webster City would dominate the Cowgirls from the outset to score a 61-13 victory on Friday night. Evie Davis put together another big night of 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 assists, as Avery Popped added 11 points and 8 rebounds.
The boys game followed as CGD jumped out to a 16-12 lead after the 1st quarter, extending that lead to 34-20 at halftime. Defenses ruled the 3rd quarter as the Cowboys led 43-26 going into the 4th, but Webster City would put together a monster rally and tied the game at the end of regulation to send it to overtime at 52-52. In overtime, it was Clarion that would hold on late for a 56-55, overtime victory.
Chaz Lane led Clarion-Goldfield-Dows with 28 points and 9 rebounds, while Huxley Lingenfelter had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Alex Staley led Webster City with 16 points and 2 rebounds, while Coyce Bertran added 12 points and a rebound.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action at St. Edmond Catholic School with tipoff at 6 PM on AM 1570 KZWC or streaming online at kqradio.com. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action at HD-CAL High School with tipoff at 6 PM.
