KQWC-KZWC celebrate 76 years today on February 9th!

Today,February 9th, marks a special day in the life of this radio station. It was on this day in 1950 that KJFJ Radio on 1570 signed on the air for the first time at 10:45 a.m. The first broadcast originated from the Jefferson Gymnasium with special music by the Webster City High School band. The scene later shifted to the Webster Theater with speeches from Webster City and Hamilton County officials marking the milestone for the area. Over the years, we have seen a lot of change. It was back in 1973 that Glenn Olson purchased KJFJ Radio and the silent KWAW FM at 95.9  which was located in the downtown area to form the present day KQWC Radio. In later years, the FM frequency moved up to the current 95.7. The station has had many owners through the years. KQWC and now KZWC operates on the current 1570 frequency by Danette and Kirk Graeve with Fieldview Broadcasting since 2019.  Today , KQWC and KZWC continues to serve the listening audience 24/7 with news, sports, weather and community coverage. We say a big THANK YOU to all of you for your support throughout these many years at KQWC and KZWC!!!
