Eagle Grove, South Hamilton and Roland-Story wrestling compete in Eagle Grove Dual Tournament

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles, South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling teams returned to action on Saturday morning, as Eagle Grove hosted the Eagle Grove Dual Tournament at Eagle Grove Elementary School. The Eagles, Hawks and Norsemen were joined by South Central Calhoun, Alta-Aurelia and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.

Eagle Grove would emerge as the tournament champions, finishing the day with a 5-0 record. The day started with a 61-12 defeat of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, before a hard-fought 41-34 victory over Roland-Story. The Eagles followed with a 67-4 win over South Hamilton, before taking care of South Central Calhoun 56-24, as the day was punctuated by winning the title match over Alta-Aurelia 37-30. Eagle Grove would see 5-0 days from Hunter Waldo Martinez (132), Hayden Schafer (165) and Jayden Kreitlow (175).

Roland-Story would place 3rd in the tournament with a 3-2 record, as the Norsemen started by defeating South Central Calhoun 48-27, before falling to Eagle Grove. The Norsemen would fall to Alta-Aurelia 48-33, before bouncing back with a 78-0 shutout of South Hamilton, capping the day with a 71-12 thrashing of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. Roland-Story saw 5-0 days from Caiden Latch (138), Greysun Lein (150) and Roman Stotts (215), with a 3-0 day from Chance Georgius (215).

South Hamilton would finish 0-5 on the day, dropping their opener to Alta-Aurelia 57-17, before dropping a close one to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 42-41. The Hawks then lost to Eagle Grove 67-4, before getting shutout by their rivals in Roland-Story 78-0, as the Hawks finished the day with a 60-12 loss to South Central Calhoun.

Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in their Class 2A, District 10 Tournament at Webster City High School, beginning at 10 AM and will be broadcast on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com. Roland-Story wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in their Class 2A, District 1 Tournament at Ballard High School in Huxley beginning at 10 AM. South Hamilton wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in their Class 1A, District 7 Tournament at Ogden High School, beginning at 10 AM.
