SHEFFIELD, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys basketball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into northern Franklin County to take on the West Fork Warhawks in non-conference action at West Fork High School.
It would be a slow start for CGD on Thursday, trailing early by as much as 7 before cutting the deficit to 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, as the Cowboys full court pressure flipped the game in the 2nd quarters as CGD led 34-28 at the halftime break. West Fork would hang around in the 3rd quarter, trailing 50-40 headed into the 4th, before the Warhawks surged back, but could not get a clean shot off on their final possession as the Cowboys won 61-59.
Chaz Lane had a big night for the Cowboys, finishing with 27 points and 8 rebounds, as Huxley Lingenfelter added 11 points. Ayden Bonner led West Fork with 26 points.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Friday, when they host the Webster City Lynx in North Central Conference action, with girls tipoff at 6 PM on AM 1570 KZWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
