CLARION, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys wrestling team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Class 2A, Region 2 duals at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School. The Cowboys welcomed in the Humboldt Wildcats and Denver Cyclones to Clarion for the meet.
Humboldt would win the opening dual of the night over Denver by a score of 37-32, as the Wildcats would once again face off with their NCC and Highway 3 rivals. Cole Wibholm started the party at 106 with a pin over Mason Frideres, as Estuardo Lopez followed up with a 16-1 tech fall over Carson Ireland at 113 to put CGD ahead 11-0.
The Cowboys continued to pile it on from there, as Paxton Redenius pinned Dylan Frideres at 120, followed by Adrian Phetxoumphone pinning Henry Kramer at 126, and Linden Phetxoumphone pinning Owen Stattelman at 132 to put CGD ahead 29-0. Ryan Hartwig would pick up a 15-0 tech fall over Jonny Hayden at 138, as Reed Campbell would pin Brooks Hinners at 144 and Dawson Beyer pinned Carson Chambers at 150 as the Cowboys ran the lead up to 46-0.
From there CGD would pick up 3 forfeits in a row for Colin Sesker (157), Ryland Morgan (165) and Easton Beyer (175), before Humboldt picked up their first win from Broedy Hendricks at 190, with a 21-5 tech fall over Santiago Deleon. Ayden Fiengo would take down Calder Grandgeorge by a 12-4 major decision to make the score 64-9, before a JT Kelso forfeit win sealed the dual at 70-9 to send the Cowboys to the State Duals for the 2nd year in a row.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows will compete in the State Dual Tournament at XTreme Arena in Coralville on Saturday morning, with seeding and opponent to be announced on Thursday morning by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
