WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School.
A back-and-forth first quarter saw Clear Lake get separation late as the Lions led 18-8 at the end of the frame, extending that lead to 33-15 by halftime. The Lions kept the deliberate pace throughout the 2nd half to come away with a 60-28 victory.
Evie Davis led Webster City with 8 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaylyn Bahrenfuss had 6 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Jacelyn Ainley led Clear Lake with 22 points and 4 assists.
The boys game followed with Clear Lake jumping ahead after one quarter at 14-5, before the Lions offense exploded in the 2nd quarter for 27 points to take a 41-14 halftime lead. The Lions kept their usual pace in the 2nd half to hand the Lynx a 68-27 loss.
Webster City stats were not available as of Tuesday morning, as Jaxson McIntire led Clear Lake with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they travel to Parkersburg to take on Aplington-Parkersburg in non-conference action with tipoff at 6 PM.
