DIKE, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into the Cedar Valley to take on the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines in non-conference action at Dike-New Hartford High School.
Roland-Story’s girls would open a small lead after the first quarter at 11-6, before the Norse offense roared to life and led 31-16 at halftime. Roland-Story’s offense continued their torrid pace in the 3rd quarter before coasting to a 62-43 win.
Riley Johnson led the Norse with 23 points on Thursday, as Ali Johnson added 14 points off the bench. Mallory Petersen led the Wolverines with 10 points.
The boys game followed as it was an evenly matched first quarter with the game tied at 10-10 after 1, but Roland-Story would shut the water off on Dike-New Hartford in the 2nd quarter, shutting out the Wolverines 26-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-10 halftime lead. Roland-Story then coasted through the 2nd half to clinch a 58-34 win.
Luke Thoreson led Roland-Story with a career-high 32 points on Thursday, as Caeden Bakker and Dawson Dietrick led Dike-New Hartford with 6 points each.
Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Friday, when they host the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action, with tipoff at 6 PM.
