CLARION, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Cowgirls basketball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School.
Hampton-Dumont-CAL would jump on the Cowgirls early, leading 31-4 after the first half and coasting to a 54-13 win.
Audrey Egland led the Cowgirls with 11 points on Thursday night.
The boys game followed as CGD blitzed the Bulldogs in the first quarter, leading 26-11 after the frame, as the Cowboys held a 37-23 halftime lead. Hampton-Dumont-CAL drew closer in the 3rd quarter, but the Cowboys would leave no doubt in the 4th quarter to grab a 63-51 win.
Junior Chaz Lane put together a big night, scoring 33 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, as JD Morrical added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Aaden Keehn led HD-CAL with 14 points.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Friday night, as they travel to Iowa Falls to take on the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in North Central Conference action with tipoff at 6 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
