South Hamilton wrestling competes in HOIAC Championships at Saydel

DES MOINES, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks wrestling team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip south to Des Moines to compete in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Championships at Saydel High School. The Hawks were joined by the host Eagles, as well as Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry, Roland-Story and West Marshall.

South Hamilton would place 7th in the meet on Monday night, finishing with 56.5 points. The Hawks top placer was senior Brody Harris, who finished runner up at 285, losing a 7-3 decision to Roland-Story’s Gavin Jeter in the final. Harris would pin Nevada’s Isaac Harrington and PCM’s Eli McGriff en route to the championship match.

Wrigley Eilbeck would place 3rd at 126, winning by tech fall over Roland-Story’s Kael Ammerman in the first round, Eilbeck bounced back from a semifinal loss to West Marshall’s Jon Gonzalez to pin Greene County’s Nick Black, before pinning Ammerman in the 3rd place match. Parker Stuck would place 3rd at 190, pinning Nevada’s Sterling Smith in the consolation semis before winning a 12-1 major decision over PCM’s Landon Siedlecki in the 3rd place match.

Kyler Ziesman was the other placer for the Hawks, finishing 6th at 175 pounds.

South Hamilton wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the annual Lynn Moody Invitational at Pocahontas Area High School, beginning at 10 AM.
