STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Perry Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School. The Norse girls entered at 10-3. while the Norsemen entered at 8-3.
Roland-Story’s girls would smother Perry in the first half, leading the Jayettes 37-8 at halftime. The Norse kept their foot on the gas in the 2nd half to come away with a 67-26 victory.
Riley Johnson led all scorers with 20 points, while Brinley Carlson added 12 points.
The boys game followed as the Norsemen looked to bounce back to their loss to Nevada on Tuesday, as they jumped out to a 26-6 lead after the first quarter, extending the advantage to 43-17 at halftime. Roland-Story would not relent in the 2nd half, totaling 42 points in the half to come away with an emphatic 85-48 victory.
Luke Thoreson led the Norsemen with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Colin Willis and Eli Van Hove each finished with 14 points.
Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Jewell to take on their rivals in the South Hamilton Hawks, with tipoff at 6 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
