OSAGE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles girls wrestling team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into far northern Iowa to compete in the annual Top of Iowa Conference Championships at Osage High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Green Devils, as well as Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Lake Mills, Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler-Clarksville, Northwood-Kensett, Saint Ansgar and West Fork.
Eagle Grove would finish 6th in the tournament with 67 points, as Marlee Thompson was the top placer for the Eagles, finishing 2nd at 110 lbs, losing in the final by major decision to Osage’s Kiersten McRoberts. Catherine Orozco would place 4th at 100 lbs, losing her 3rd place match by fall to Osage’s Kaylee Schwarck, as Elideth Santiago was 4th at 120 lbs, losing her placement match to Lake Mills’s Lily Young by fall. Keylee Collins also placed 4th at 125 lbs, losing by fall in her placement match.
Other placers for the Eagles saw Morgan Keller place 5th at 115 lbs, Mya Gilbert placed 5th at 120, while Baylee Steig placed 6th at 135.
Eagle Grove girls wrestling returns to action on Monday, when they compete in the East Sac County Tournament at East Sac High School in Sac City, beginning at 5:30 PM.
