Eagle Grove basketball splits TOIW doubleheader at West Hancock

BRITT, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into Hancock County to take on the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action at West Hancock High School. The Eagle girls entered at 3-11, while the Eagle boys entered at 4-10.

West Hancock would jump on the Eagles early, leading 26-6 after the first quarter, extending the lead to 47-10 by halftime. The 2nd half would see West Hancock ease off the gas pedal, as Eagle Grove fell 61-22.

Stats were not available on Bound as of Friday morning.

The boys game followed as Eagle Grove would jump out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, extending the advantage to 32-20 at halftime. An evenly matched 3rd quarter saw Eagle Grove pull away in the 4th quarter for a 69-50 victory.

Adrian Whipple had a big night for the Eagles, finishing with 28 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while Braylon Kling added 17 points.

Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School, with tipoff at 6:15 PM.
