(2A) #2 Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling captures NCC Dual Team Title against (2A) #9 Algona and Iowa Falls-Alden

IOWA FALLS, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys wrestling team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip east into Hardin County to take on the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets and Algona Bulldogs in a North Central Conference tri dual at Iowa Falls-Alden High School.

The Cowboys opened up with a top 10 battle against 9th-ranked Algona, as CGD avenged their only conference loss from a year ago with a 49-19 win. Wins by fall were picked up by Cole Wibholm (106), Linden Phetxoumphone (132) and JT Kelso (285), with tech falls from Estuardo Lopez (113), Colin Sesker (157) and Easton Beyer (190). CGD picked up a major decision win from Dawson Beyer (150), with decision wins from Paxton Redenius (120) and Ryan Hartwig (138), as Adrian Phetxoumphone (126) won by forfeit.

In the final dual of the night, CGD routed Iowa Falls-Alden by a score of 63-11, as the Cowboys picked up wins by fall from Linden Phetxoumphone (132), Colin Sesker (157) and JT Kelso (285), with a tech fall from Adrian Phetxoumphone (126), a major decision from Estuardo Lopez (113) and decisions from Reed Campbell (144) and Traesyn Cope (215). Forfeit wins were captured by Cole Wibholm (106), Dawson Beyer (150), Ryland Morgan (165), Easton Beyer (175) and Eli Hodge (190).

The 2-0 night for the Cowboys captured the North Central Conference Dual Team Title, the first dual team title for CGD since 2020-21. CGD Coach Cory Yoder spoke with KQWC following the meet.
