Webster City wrestling goes 1-2 in quad meet at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx wrestling team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into Humboldt County to compete in a quad dual against North Central Conference foes in the Humboldt Wildcats and the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets, as well as the Spencer Tigers.

Webster City opened the night with a 46-27 loss to (2A) #20 Humboldt, as the Lynx won 6 of 14 matches. The Lynx picked up wins by fall from Dawson Bertran (138), Cody Elliott (215) and Peyton Weisburg (285), with decisions from Angel Ramirez (106), Ty Bingham (113) and Gavin Wynkoop (144).

Iowa Falls-Alden then eeked out a 38-37 victory over Webster City, as the Lynx picked up wins by fall from Dawson Bertran (138), Ridge Berninghaus (157) and Eli Estlund (190), with a major decision from Gavin Wynkoop (144), a decision from Cody Elliott (215) and a forfeit win for Angel Ramirez (106).

The Lynx would then end the night with a 48-35 win over Spencer, as Webster City picked up wins by fall from Dawson Bertran (138), Gavin Wynkoop (144), Andrew Vaughn (150), Ridge Berninghaus (157) and Cody Elliott (215), with forfeit wins from Angel Ramirez (106), Ty Bingham (113) and Tariq Burton (126).

Webster City wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the annual Perry Invitational at Perry High School, beginning at 9:30 AM.
