Eagle Grove basketball swept in home TOIW doubleheader with Forest City

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School. The Eagle girls entered at 2-10, while the Eagle boys entered at 4-8.

Sixth-ranked Forest City would jump on the short-handed Eagles early, who were without the services of top scorers Taytum Edwards and Addy Pamperin, outscoring them 26-4 in the opening frame, extending the lead to 46-16 at halftime. The Indians would cruise through the 2nd half, handing the Eagles a 64-22 loss.

The KQWC Player of the Game was sophomore Myka Anderson, who led Eagle Grove with 11 points, as Ellie Lenning added 5 points. Hayden Brown led Forest City with 14 points.

Offenses ruled early in the boys game, with Forest City leading 18-10 after the first quarter, but the Indian defense would not let the Eagles keep the pace, holding them to four 2nd quarter points and a 34-14 halftime lead. The Indians kept their foot on the gas in the 2nd half to hand the Eagles a 66-34 loss.

The KQWC Player of the Game for the Eagles was senior forward Issiac Williams, who finished with 20 points and 6 three pointers, as Adrian Whipple added 9 points.

Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Britt to take on the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action with tipoff at 6:15 PM.
