Webster City basketball drops road non-con doubleheader with South Central Calhoun

ROCKWELL CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip west on Highway 20 to take on the South Central Calhoun Titans in non-conference action at South Central Calhoun Middle School. The Lynx girls entered at 4-5, while the Lynx boys entered at 2-5.

Webster City would fall behind early by a 13-10 score after the first quarter, before South Central Calhoun would gain more separation by halftime at 28-18. The Titans were able to keep the Lynx at arms length the entirety of the 2nd half as Webster City fell 55-42.

Evie Davis and Jaylyn Bahrenfuss each finished with 11 points, as Davis added 15 rebounds and 2 steals, while Bahrenfuss added 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

The boys game followed as South Central Calhoun would blitz the Lynx early with a 25-point first quarter as Webster City trailed 25-10, as the Lynx slightly closed the gap by halftime at 32-19. The 2nd half would be evenly matched, but Webster City couldn’t muster the fire power for a comeback in a 54-43 loss.
