CLEAR LAKE, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip north on I-35 to compete in the annual Clear Lake Invitational at Clear Lake High School. The Norsemen were joined by the host Lions, as well as Algona, Charles City, Clear Lake, Crestwood, Forest City, New Hampton/Turkey Valley, North Butler-Clarksville, North Fayette Valley, Okoboji-HMS and West Hancock.
Roland-Story would place 7th in the tournament with 124 points, as the Norsemen’s top placer was junior Caiden Latch, who finished 2nd at 138 pounds, losing a 12-7 decision to North Fayette Valley’s Cain Rodgers, as Latch won his first two matches by fall and by decision. Colin Grundlingh was 3rd at 175, winning his 3rd place match by fall over North Fayette Valley’s Cashton Kottman.
Chance Georgius would place 4th at 190 pounds, as he lost his 3rd place match to Algona’s Brody Shipler by an 11-1 major decision, going 2-1 prior with 2 falls. Roman Stotts would place 4th at 215, losing his 3rd place match by an 11-1 major decision to NH/TV’s Austyn Kleppe.
Noah Healy would place 5th at 120, winning his placement match by fall over North Butler-Clarksville’s Aiden Doty, as Myles Handsaker also placed 5th at 157, winning his placement match by fall over NH/TV’s Cade Carpenter. 6th Place finishers for the Norsemen would include Konnor Blume at 113 and Jake Rogers at 285 to round out placers.
Roland-Story wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in a Heart of Iowa Conference tri dual at Perry High School, beginning at 6 PM.
