WINTERSET, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip into southwest Iowa to compete in the annual Gary Christensen Invitational at Winterset High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Huskies, as well as ADM, Carlisle, Clarinda, Clarke, Earlham, East Union, Martensdale-St. Marys, Osage, Saydel, Urbandale, Van Meter, Waukee and Woodward-Granger.
Eagle Grove would place 8th in the tournament with a total of 86 points, as their top placer was Dylan Terwilliger, who placed 2nd at 126 pounds, losing his 1st place match to Earlham’s Max Millage by fall, winning his first two matches by major decision and fall.
Hunter Waldo Martinez would place 4th at 132, losing a 14-0 major decision to Osage’s Jasper Sonberg in the 3rd place match, winning 2 matches by fall and losing a match by tech fall prior to the placement match. Jayden Kreitlow would place 5th at 175, winning his placement match by fall over Waukee’s Cooper Martin.
James Harle won his 5th place match with a fall over Clarke’s Angel Torres, Colson Schafer would place 6th at 144 pounds, as Christian Schild placed 7th at 190 lbs, winning his placement match by fall over Osage’s Reece Brown.
Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Tuesday, as they compete in a Top of Iowa Conference meet with Lake Mills and Osage at Osage Middle School, beginning at 6 PM.
