CLARION, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they hosted the annual Glen Brand Duals at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School. The Cowboys were joined by Ballard, Decorah, Hampton-Dumont-CAL and West Marshall.
CGD would rout Ballard in the opening match by a score of 67-12, as the Cowboys picked up pin wins from Reed Campbell (144), Dawson Beyer (150), Ryland Morgan (165), Easton Beyer (175) and JT Kelso (190), tech fall victories from Paxton Redenius (120), Ryan Hartwig (138) and Traesyn Cope, a major decision from Colin Sesker (157) and forfeit wins for Cole Wibholm (106), Estuardo Lopez (113) and Adrian Phetxoumphone (126).
The Cowboys then defeated West Marshall 55-21 in their 2nd match, as CGD picked up wins by fall from Cole Wibholm (106), Ryan Hartwif (138), Colin Sesker (157), Ryland Morgan (165), Easton Beyer (175), Traesyn Cope (215) and JT Kelso (285), with a tech fall from Paxton Redenius (113) and major decisions from Adrian Phetxoumphone (126) and Dawson Beyer (150).
In the final bout, the top-ranked Cowboys matched up with #3 Decorah and would fall 38-32, as the Cowboys picked up wins by fall from Paxton Redenius (120) and Adrian Phetxoumphone (126), major decisions from Cole Wibholm (106) and Colin Sesker (157), decisions from Estuardo Lopez (113) and Ryland Morgan (165) and a forfeit from JT Kelso (285).
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling returns to action on Thursday night, when they host a quad dual with St. Edmond, Charles City and Don Bosco at CGD High School, beginning at 6 PM.
